![]() ![]() Sure, the references changed, but I got it. They acted EXACTLY like I did with my friends when I was their age. It might be harder for older fans who don't have kids, but these four boys acted EXACTLY like my kids do with their friends. They rebooted TMNT in a way that makes sense for kids today without changing the feel of TMNT. The changes they make make sense within the world. They get the "feel" of the series they are adapting. And I don't just mean the stories because quite a few changes were made to Preacher and The Boys and, obviously, these TMNT. They have given us some of the most faithful comics adaptations put to film. Rogan and Goldberg are comic fans like a lot of us are comic fans. He isn't a fan, like say Michael Bay stated he was. While I can see the Rogan complaint, I think he is the first TMNT director in a while that "got it." I mean, look at his work on all his comic series so far. This goes down as, not only, on of the greatest TMNT experiences of all time, but animated movies of all time for me as well. There were times I forgot it wasn't stop motion animation. It is just a great time feom start to finish and the animation is just absolutely stunning. I don't care if you are 5 or 50, or even not really a TMNT fan, you should go see this movie. We laughed and wowed through it all together. The best part was experiencing it with my kids. 5 minutes in and everything just felt right. I know some were concerned about the voice acting but, how the world is set, they were perfect. We kind of never see that "young and working it out" phase and they capture that feel perfectly. Historically, we have seen the Turtles as a, pretty much, well oiled fighting team. This movie, to me, feels like it filled a hole in the TMNT universe that was always there. Every iteration of the Turtles has good and bad points but I can honestly say I can't find a bad thing to say about it. The tweeks to the traditional characters made me love them even more. The tweeks to the backstories didn't really hurt anything. All that being said, this new movie was only eeked out by the 1990s movie in terms of how amazing it was. I have seen iteration after iteration come and go. I am not saying this to brag, just to point out that I love TMNT. I have collected and read TMNT comics since I before the original cartoon came out. I have watched every series in full multiple times. Bed sheets, backpacks, t-shirts, parachute pants, bean ag chairs, you name it, it was TMNT. I missed out on everything else (GI Joe, Transformers, Power Rangers, Hot Wheels, ect.) because, if it wasn't Turtles, I didn't care. The first comic I ever owned was the first trade of the first 10 TMNT comics. Also, when posting any image or clip please include the source (Title, issue or episode #) in the title.
